Teens/Tweens Therapy

Description

The teenage years are a whirlwind—exciting, confusing, and sometimes overwhelming. Your teen is figuring out who they are, facing pressures, big emotions, and challenges they may not know how to put into words. As a parent, you see their struggles, but reaching them can feel impossible. I know how much you want to help. Teen psychotherapy offers a safe space for them to open up, process their feelings, and build the confidence and coping skills they need. They don’t have to navigate this alone, and neither do you. With support and understanding, this chapter can be one of growth, not isolation.

How to Begin

I am happy to offer a complimentary consultation by phone for you and your teen to gather more information about my practice and approach. Finding the right fit for a therapist is crucial because it creates a foundation of trust, safety, and understanding, which allows for meaningful progress and personal growth in therapy.

FAQs about Teen Therapy Service

Confidentiality is key in teen therapy—it creates the trust needed for your child to open up and truly engage in the process. Therapy should feel like a safe space, where they can express their thoughts and emotions without fear of judgment or punishment. While I respect their privacy, I also value your role as their parent. I’ll keep you informed about general progress and provide guidance on how you can support them at home, but I won’t share specific details unless there’s a safety concern. Your involvement matters, and together, we’ll create a balance of trust, support, and open communication.

Teen therapy using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) helps your teen develop practical tools to manage emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. CBT focuses on understanding and challenging negative thinking patterns, teaching them how to replace unhelpful thoughts with healthier, more balanced ones. DBT builds skills in emotional regulation, mindfulness, and distress tolerance, which helps teens cope with stress, manage intense emotions, and navigate difficult situations. Through therapy, they gain insight into the patterns that shape their reactions, allowing them to gain perspective and build healthier ways to respond, think, and feel. It’s about learning to face challenges with confidence and control.
